Hello-
In a chat with my friend Jasper, I see he posted in the 'Introduction'. silly me, I had not till now.
I am registered at TOTJO as Jestor.
I am a TKD Instructor and father of three.... oh yes, I have this pesky job thing with a small local government. I am the shovel operator, trash receptical manager, turf barber, and 'porcelain god' sanitation engineer.
My retirement depends upon winning the lotto, my wife winning the lotto, or one of my kids..... winning the lotto.
Other than that.... what more could you wanna know?....:sHa_hehe:

Welcome to the JRC, Jestor! It's good to have you. Will you be coming to the upcoming MI Gathering?

Moon, I'd love to, as with everyone else, money is always an issue ... We'll see... What is the absolute last day of notice? I was thinking of bringing my son and that means double cost...
And we are the shy type, as we sit back and watch who the players are... in any game....
Anyway, I am excited to see this kind of a site and when I ask Br. John @ TOTJO, how to find others in my area, he told me about the JRC....
Thanks for them welcome and I look forward to more conversations....

Jestor, welcome to the JRC!
I hope you have also joined the Illinois/Chicago Jedi Meetup. I know it's a bit of a drive, but I hope you and your son might be able to join us for our activities occasionally. I'm sure we could even find a home for you to stay in overnight if that makes it easier.
How old is your son? My son is 13 and will be at the Gathering and is at most of our local activities.
Jeremy
heck even only ever making it once or twice a year is worth the join.
It really makes me happy that the leadership of other sites are beginning to utilize this one for its intended purpose! To help people find each other.

Jestor, the last early bird deadline for the Gathering was on June 1st for $125. Now prices will be $135 at the door and there is no longer a deadline for signing up. The earlier you let us know, the better, though, so we can get a good head count and start planning things around that.
Hopefully, you may also be able to find carpool in your area to help reduce travel costs. I would contact the members of the Chicago Chapter to connect with other IL Jedi.
There's absolutely no problem with sitting back and observing. All we do is provide the setting and activities and people are free to participate in whatever way they like. Depending how old your son is, there may even be other kids around his age. There will even be kid directed activities which were a ton of fun for kids and adults alike last year.
My best recommendation is to submit a registration form for you and your son now and then you can confirm down the road. That way we can also get a better idea of how to assist you in attending.
I also agree with Andy, it's great that Jedi are being referred here to help find other offline Jedi!
